China, War Propaganda Poster

World War II (WW2), lasted from 1939 to 1945 involving many great nations. The Empire of Japan aimed to dominate Asia and the Pacific and was already at war with the Republic of China in 1937. Japan hunger to dominate China politically and militarily and to secure its vast raw material reserves and other economic resources, particularly food and labor.

During it's occupation of China, many atrocities were reported to have been committed. We shall not go into that. The records and facts can be clearly found in various websites, academics, documentaries and books. It was due to this atrocities that the Chinese had a deep hatred towards their invaders.

During those days there was no instant Polaroid photo, no mobile phone with camera, no internet, no whatsapp. Hence, taking pictures was consider a luxury which only a selected few could afford. All announcements were made not via television or radio due to the fact that few placed had them and the broadcasters do not want to draw attention to themselves. Therefore, propaganda posters was the best bet. You can get your message out to the masses and still remain anonymous.

This is one such piece in my collection

The heading states Printed in 1943, the second World War in the Pacific Ocean between Japan and the United States of America

Inscriptions states that the US tried to save their boat but was unable to

States that the US wanted Britain Island but Japan planes arrived to bomb them

Implies that the US had successfully brought down Japanese Kamikaze pilots

This was their way of informing or more like misinforming the public by providing wrong information. China at the point in time supported the US, hence, their propaganda poster was pro US. When in reality at that time US was at the loosing end. The Atomic bomb came much later
