Born Cain Marco, he is the evil stepbrother of Professor Charles Xavier. After the death of Charles’s father, Sharon Xavier married Kurt Marko. Always favouring the younger Charles, Marco was frequently psychologically and physically abused.
This drove a wedge between the brothers. Marco begins resenting Charles and frequently bullies him. Charles using his telepathic powers read Cain’s mind and experienced the anguish and emotion felt by Cain. When Cain found out, he begins resenting Charles and Mutants even more.
When the 2 brothers serving the US Army are stationed in Korea, Marco finds a hidden temple and enters. Finding a Red Ruby, he reads the inscriptions on it, ”Whosoever touches this gem shall be granted the power of the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak! Henceforth, you who read these words, shall become forevermore, a human Juggernaut”.
Possessing superhuman strength, he is able to pulverise mountains. Generating a mystical force field he is invulnerable to physical attack. Able to thrive without food, water or air he is the Unstoppable Juggernaut.
The Juggernaut wears a skullcap and helmet to protect his mind from probes rendering him invulnerable.
He hates to being compared to a Mutant, partially due to his hatred towards Charles and the fact that Charles is a Mutant. In an epic battle with Mutants, Juggernaut has stated that “I’m not a Mutant! My powers are Magical!”.
First appearance in X-Men # 12 (July 1965).
Juggernaut first caught my eyes in the 1992’s X-Men cartoon the Unstoppable Juggernaut.
