Darth Vader Selangor Pewter

Darth Vader

The American Film Institute listed him as the 3rd greatest movie villain in cinema history on 100 Heroes and Villains, behind Hannibal Lecter and Norman Bates. What a brilliant introduction for any tyrant. Don't know if Godzilla or Tyrannosaurus rex is included in the list.

Now that’s not task easily achievable by any mortal man. Everything about Lord Vader strikes terror. From his all black mechanical appearance, his mask, to his imposing morbid dark sonorous bass voice with the breathing apparatus. As a matter of fact, Vader looks even more terrifying without a mask, due to his severely disfigurement on his confrontation duel with General Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar, where he was consumed by the fires of flowing lava.

No villain would be complete without their weapon of choice. Vader’s weapon of choice is a crimson synth-crystal lightsaber.

Vader was first introduced in the 1977 epic space opera science fiction film titled Star Wars.
His character was created by George Lucas and designed by Ralph McQuarrie. McQuarrie was also pivotal in designing Chewbacca, R2-D2 and C-3PO. Vader was originally portrayed by David Prowse in the movies and James Earl Jones provided Vader’s menacing voice. The Samurai armor was the conceptual inspiration for Vader’s costume.

Born Anakin Skywalker, his fall to the dark side is akin to archangel Lucifer’s fall from grace.
As Lord Vader said, “You don’t know the power of the dark side”.

My son was a huge Darth Vader fan, well that was until Kylo Ren became the new villain in the Force Awakens.
