Great Food in Pekan, Awang Apam Balik, Cendol Saleem & Murtabak Mengkasar

Welcome to Pekan, a rather small sleepy town in Pahang. If you ever happen to stop here, the following's are a must have, at least once

Awang Apam Balik, it may look shabby but looks can be deceiving

It is located opposite Pasar Besar Pekan

The magic is made behind this counter

Seating place

The owner does his mixing of the better himself

Normal Apam Balik is RM1.80 and the special RM3.00. This is the special one, batter is filled with raising and extra egg and served with a large blob of butter. A very creamy Apam indeed

Nasi Lemak and Tea'O will set you back RM3.00

You should try this in addition to the Apam

Saleem Cendol. From just a small van, based on the number of workers you can imagine the order quantity

Located at the river front, opposite Shell station

Seating is just under a tree. See the importance of trees. They provide shade. Stop cutting trees

Free chilled drinking water is provided

You can call him in advance for large orders

Brilliant. Creamy and not too sweet. Freshly made daily Cendol

Excellent crispy rojak with equally excellent tasting rojak kuah

There is also Cendol Hameed located just opposite. Talk about bitter rivalry. Cutlery, here is better. They serve you their Cendol in silver steel bowl and spoon from India. Great quality and solid. But their Cendol is less creamy and Rojak is more bland the kuah

Murtabak Mengkasar, just located on the way out of Pekan Town, after the Balai Polis

It's just a wooden shed so be on the lookout

They don't have any kuah, curry or dahl

Yummy. This is the special version RM9.00

The brilliant scenery, on the way out
