There is a saying that when it rains it pours.
For moths I was looking for a genuine sumpit. Not one with a metal hollow cylinder that is used for decoration.
Only a few weeks after managing to purchase one genuine old sumpit, Kak Hasnah managed to locate another one for me.
Although it is newer but it is still genuine and that's what counts.
How she came about it is even more astonishing. There was rumors in her village that she is looking for a sumipt and just like that someone approached her to sell one.
The other layer protecting the Penaga wood had been changed to "Tali Sanglai". Made from the bark of a Sanglai tree. Previously the former owner used a PVC pipe.
The Penaga sumpit, surrounding it is the Sanglai rope. I removed the mouth piece to enable readers to see the naked sumpit
This blow pipe is much shorter than the one previously purchased
Elegantly adoring my wall
The mouth piece and the dart holder or "damak holder "is made from Pokok Habung
Kak Hasnah is the one who made this possible
This is a picture of her (right) and her sister taken in 2002 operating her fruits stall as part of a book titled People of Nature, on the Orang Asli of Pahang by Koperasi Kijang Mas Negeri Pahang and published by Budding Circle S/B. Kak Hasnah belongs to the Jakun tribe
This is her current residence, together with her parents and extended family
They have their own tractor for land clearing works for agriculture. They are indeed the keepers and caretakers of the forest
A brick home build for her mother but her mother still prefers to stay in her wooden home
Her mother
Her Aunt and Cousin. The made the kid wear clothes as he was naked prior to taking a photo
Astro. I guess the question now is, where has Astro not gone, when they have even ventured into the jungles which was once uncharted territories
Their TV antenna is held by a long bamboo pole
Rambutan and other fruit tress surrounding the house
A real kampung feel but in the jungle
The kids play with whatever limited toys they have. As you can see they are immune to dust, dirt, mosquitoes, walking barefooted and etc. City kids would have a hard time adopting. They will feel itchy all day
