Happy 8 Old Town, Ipoh

Along out exploration of Ipoh town we found this hidden gem of a restaurant. We did not try the food but the scenery and ambiance was exquisite and out of this world

Ipoh, a Ciy of Art

I wanted to go to Ipoh for many years. Mainly to meet the descendant of Cybil Karthigesu. Way back in 2016 it was in the planning but when I finally made arrangements I found out she had passed away last September. May her soul rest in peace in the solace of God all Mighty.

We went on 20 December 2018 to see Cybil Karthigesu home among others but when I did research on Ipoh and feedback from my wife, I found out Ipoh was a really remarkable place. Food galore, rich in history and art. Maybe, the Venice of Malaysia.

We took the train there. Hassle free and a joyous rice. Even managed to catch a nap. My kids first time on a train. As expected the question they ask is why so long! When we gonna reach?

All excited, their first time to Ipoh

Words cant fully express the essence of Ipoh. Let the pictures tell a thousand words. We took a stroll around Ipoh town and Concubine lane. Take a slow walk, absorb all the wonderful scenery, pre war buildings and art

Traffic is basically non existent. A far cry from KL

Met this wonderful Uncle, Luke. He reprimanded me basically as from my antics he knew I was a tourist and told me to be careful as there may me muggers. As a caution, always be aware of your surroundings. We had quite a long chat and have become friends. Uncle Luke with my wife

Sorry for too many pictures on zooming or close-up. I love exquisite architecture and elegance

Bought some Sarungs for us and my parents. Got a wonderful kids Sarung for my son. Will share it in another blog. Price was indeed cheap, compared to KL

Back in the day, it was probably owned and operated by Mamaks. Now Chinese owned
