I Wan'na Be like You

Anyone who saw Disney's 2016 remake of the Jungle Book by Jon Favreau (the man behind the Iron Man movies), would have fallen in love with the song I Wan'na Be like You.

Disney's The Jungle Book was first shown in the big screen in 1967. Inspired by Rudyard Kipling's book of the same name in 1894.

The song was written by Robert and Richard Sherman and performed by Louis Prima. This, the original, I feel sang best version. But Robbie Williams and Olly Murs in the album Swings Both Ways, released in 2013, did a great job.

Decide for yourselves.

Richard Sherman and his brother aimed for a jazz sound, with a Dixieland-like melody. He added that "When we first got an idea for 'I Wan'na Be Like You,' we said an ape swings from a tree, and he's the king of apes. We'll make him 'the king of the swingers.' That's the idea, we'll make him a jazz man." Once Prima was invited to do the song, he mockingly responded to the Shermans with "You want to make a monkey out of me? You got me!"

Recycled Christmas Tree

Greetings and Salutations. This post is slightly late. Slightly. 😉

A delayed wish of Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2018.

In our own homes and Shopping Malls, we reuse the plastic Christmas Tree year after year.

But this is hands down the best recycled Christmas tree. Location Subang Parade

Great breakfast idea

This post is almost live, almost. Made this for my kids this morning for breakfast.

Simple to make, fast and tasty.

Just boil eggs for about 5 minutes. It needs to be watery and not hard boiled

You will need a egg cup to hold the egg in place. Always ensure you place the smaller end of the egg at the bottom of the cup. Meaning the rounder, larger portion of the egg faces the top or faces you. This will also make the cracking of a larger hole in the egg due to the larger surface area

The larger surface of the egg should be on top

Cut the edges off your bread. Toast your bread properly. The bread should have a hard crunch. It should not be soft and soggy after toasting it. The bread when properly toasted will hold up its shape when dipped into the toast

Imagine doing this with a soft soggy bread. It will bend all over and will not enter the hole properly. Also ensure your hole is big enough for the bread to be dipped

To make the breakfast more enticing to the kids, I gave them baby teacups to drink their tea

Have a wonderful day and God bless

Cinnamon's @ Gamuda Walk

Family Lunch on 23/12/17. Meaning this is a very new post. After my son's drum classes we were initially planning to have a meal at A&W but my wife's craving for bamboo briyani was overwhelming. So we headed to Cinnamon's

Ambiance is simple, yet classy and elegant. Avoid the lunch hour crowd and you should be fine

Those seating on the veranda will have a nice view

My wife arguing with the kids, what to order. Wanted lamb shank briyani but they were out.

According to the manager, stock this time was rather limited and he only managed to get 20 pieces but all were sold out in a day. He shared that prices of lamb shank, (the New Zealand variety) had gone up to RM50 per item. Previously it was RM42 but he still maintains the same price of the lamb shank briyani, albeit a lesser profit. He firmly answer me, we do not compromise in quality, quantity and taste.

After tasting the food, I agree wholeheartedly with him

The environment is very inviting and had numerous posters complimenting food cravings

Even the hand washing area although simple, much thought was given to it

There is a cinnamon roll to enhance the smell

Beef Pepperoni Pizza. Plenty of cheese and very meaty. My 5 year daughter alone finished 4 slices. It is that good

The Manager himself, was delighted to see us and explained the process

Chicken briyani. Look at the size of the chicken. It was simply tender and juicy. So tender you can rip it off the bone with just one gentle pull. This version of briyani is not spicy. Just nice for the kids. The waiter will knock out the entire meal (briyani, chicken & egg (if applicable) out from the bamboo, at your table

My dish, mutton briyani. This is the spicy version. You can see the difference in color as compared to the above briyani

Lobster briyani. The Manager informed us to eat it whole with the skin and suck out the juice from the legs and head. Its simply tantalizing. Very delicate in flavor and aroma. Needless to say, my wife eats it as "the way" recommended by the Manager

Look at its size

All briyani dish comes with this vege dish

Some of the seasoning, herbs and spices I took out from my plate. The briyani taste very different compared to Arab, Mamak or Indian sytle briyani. It is very fragrant and tasty. Even eaten on its own without any side dishes. The rice isn't  not oily either, although it may look like it. Lots of bay leaf in it

The total bill. They were out of deserts as they are in the midst of reviving the menu

Batu Caves

23 March 2017, we visited Batu Caves. The cave is dedicated to Lord Murugan and the focal point for Thaipusam.

The limestone cave is estimated around 400 million years old.

Like all caves, Batu Caves is the home of bats and as early as 1860, Chinese settlers began excavating guano for fertilizing their vegetable patches.

Batu Caves was promoted as a place of worship by the late Kayarohanam Pillai Thamboosamy Pillai in 1873, an Indian trader. Inspired by the 'vel'-shaped entrance of the main cave, the temple was dedicated to Lord Murugan.

At the base of the stairs leading to the cave, there is a 140 ft statue of Lord Muruga. Unveiled in January 2006.

The cave view from the highway

When we arrived at 8.00am, the parking lot was almost empty

Lord Hanuman

Devotees praying

We were unable to enter, as the place was closed

The limestone hills are a sight to behold

A smaller temple at the bottom of the hill

Musical instruments used by the temple during prayers

The kids had so much fun chasing pigeons

Size difference. How impressive and regal in stature Lord Muruga looks

There are many places still under construction

272 stairs to climb

View on the way to the top

Success. Reached the top

A gorgeous large tree in the compound

Exhausted from their climb, a cool coconut drink to quench their thirst

RM5.00 per coconut. Plenty no need to rush and its huge. Unlike the small Thai coconut. But being huge has its disadvantages. It is not fragrant and as tasty as the Thai variety

The parking lot is full at 10.00am. Meaning the early bird catches the worm
